Just felt like doing more development before I get to bed.  try a different hairstyle, headshape, and some frankenstein bolts.  i should try plaing with nose variations as well.  heh.  more stuff to think about for tomorrow then.  45min.

I was pretty much running errands all day, so I didn’t do much drawing or designing today. I felt I owed it to myself to at least do another 45 min zombie prom queen paint session.  Exploring another option with this character by adding pupils and a fleshier skin tone.  Also, I thought I’d mess around with facial expressions while I’m at it. Seemed kinda fun to design a prom queen that wasn’t too thrilled about her king.

Was inspired by a goth girl that was in one of my classes at SMC, but I don’t think her hair is pink anymore.  Anyways, let me know what you guys think.  Cheers.

prom queen warmup

Decided that the zombie prom king needed his queen, so I whipped out this diddy to get started on the development. A 45 minute rough paint in to get a feel for the character. Just went in and started painting as opposed to starting with a sketch. If it seems wonky, now you know. Thought I would try something different with my approach. Also, I hated how my earlier warmup paints looked because of the sketch I would start off with would still be in there.

I kinda like this idea of a zombie prom. So this might be the start of a pet design project.

Might play around with some more variations with the same time constraints to add another bit of depth to my portfolio. Who knows? I might even play with character interactions as well. zombie prom pictures anyone?

Despite the lack of time spent on it. I like the results so 6 down….994 more to go

Sketch Dumping.. people doodles and breaktime art

This is gonna be another long one, (that’s what she said!!!!) so here goes!!!

These sketchesare a mixed bag of morning warmups, lunchtime draws, and sketchclub meetups.  Some sessions turned out successful and some not.  It’s the same thing as sticking to a new medium for life drawing, sometimes i had a goal in mind when sketching and then I would abandon it because I didn’t like the results.  Didn’t fully give myself the time to really get a feel for it and attack the page, but it’s a learning process.  so lesson learned.

These were done during my lunchbreaks at my internship. My workstation has a freakin cintiq, so why shouldn’t I be able to use it for myself when I’m on break? So it’ll be a new thing to do after I finish my lunch and there’s time to kill. Plus it works towards my goal of 1000 bad paintings, because it gives me something to finish during the weekend. so.. success?!?

Been meaning to post this finished Steampunk Robin Hood design. I finished this around the same time as my pirate vampire hunter. I’ve noticed how much I learned in my digital painting class at gnomon, so it was a sound investment on my part. It doesn’t count towards my 1000 bad paintings because I finished this bad boy before I started my quest.
