Recently, a friend told me that I’ve been designing dark Pokemon. I couldn’t help but laugh because it’s true. I’ve looked at my designs and I’d like to think they’re appealing, but also governed by some of my influences: Takashi Murakami, Jon Burgerman, Tim Burton, and Jason Sho Green. My quirky designs lend themselves to the tokyo pop and vinyl toy scene (or at least I hope they do). I regret not pursuing this design style back in 2003 when the whole scene was starting.
But anyways, here’s Thursday’s lunch paint taken to completion. I was at Starbucks after the Drawing Club workshop today and just felt like creating art. It took me about 3-4 hours to finish this. Hope you guys enjoy! Cheers
Sweet 16 suckaz!

Decided to head out to this morning’s Drawing Club workshop for the sake practicing my digital painting skills. I wanted to try something different and paint from a live model.
However, I didn’t go for realism. I probably should, but I figured I should at least attempt traditional painting to do that. But for now, it’s about treading water and staying afloat before trying to swim with the sharks.
3 hour long pose – digital
15 down, 985 to go!

Experimenting with a different style this morning. Playing with a custom inkbrush that I want to incorporate into some future designs. Let me know what you guys think.
30-45min

Thought I would do some more tonal practice this afternoon. Had plans of going to the zoo, but I’ve gotten a bit of a cold and am sneezing like no other. Done with an ebony pencil & tissue paper for blending. The lighting is off but it’s all a learning process. Keep creating!

Woke up this morning and noticed that Bobby Chiu was doing another U-stream session. Planned on going to the zoo first thing in the morning, but I felt I can go after the chiu-stream. Logged in and everyone was painting pirate creatures and I didn’t wanna be left out. haha. Nice way to start the morning. Roughly about an hour spent on it.
Happy “Talk Like a Pirate Day!” ARRRRRR ME MAYYYTEEES
