a little more tone
One thing I’ve been super stubborn about in regards to digital painting is tonal studies. I think it’s because I don’t have much patience for the painting process in general. But I remember my creature design teacher saying that the key to being a great artist is overcoming your bad habits.
Since digital painting is something I really want to improve upon, I have to get over myself and start from the basics: grayscale renderings to establish my tonal values and lighting.
Anyways, here’s a character sketch I did based on the model we had for Sunday’s gesture drawing class with Mark McDonnel at LAAFA. So let me know what you guys think. Cheers.
